Brinkash & Associates, Inc. is proud to announce that company president, Michael F. Brinkash, PLS, has been elected to a second term as Board President of the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. Mike Sr. was appointed to the board in 2011 and is currently serving a six year term.
The State Registration Board is comprised of the Commissioner of Professional and Occupational Affairs, 2 registered Professional Land Surveyors, 5 registered Professional Engineers, 2 registered Professional Geologists and 3 public members. The Board regulates the practice, licensure and registration of engineers, land surveyors and geologists in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in order to safeguard life, health and property and promote the general welfare. The function of the Board includes investigating, approving or disapproving engineering, surveying and geology applications for those desiring to be licensed in Pennsylvania. To suspend or revoke the license and registration of any professional engineer, land surveyor or geologists who is found guilty by the Board, by majority vote of all its members, of the practice of any fraud, deceit or misrepresentation in obtaining his license, certification or registration or of gross negligence, incompetency, misconduct or of violation of the code of ethics of these professions. Typically Board members meet about seven times a year or more if necessary.
Mr. Brinkash is a 1971 graduate of Mount Carmel Area School High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserves in 1978. He is a licensed professional land surveyor in Pennsylvania and New York with over 35 years experience. Mike previously served as president of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors (PSLS) and was a representative to the National Board of Governors of the National Society of Professional Land Surveyors. He was a past recipient of the Surveyor of the Year presented by PSLS and authored and published 'County and Municipal Boundary Descriptions', a 472 page professional text book copyrighted in 1997. He has been a presenter and speaker for various continuous education workshops on numerous surveying topics over the past twenty years.
